Speech Pathology Services for Adults with Parkinson Disease (PD)
Elena has advanced knowledge and skills in treating voice, speech and swallowing disorders associated with Parkinson’s Disease. She was instrumental in creating a modified pacing board for individuals with PD who required external cues to slow down their speech.
While working at Fremantle Hospital Parkinson’s clinic at Moss Street, Elena initiated and ran a therapeutic Parkinson’s choir whose members had received intensive, PD-specific voice therapy. The initiative received strong positive feedback from clients and colleagues as a therapeutic and fun way to achieve goals as well as maintain meaningful social connections.
Elena is certified in Lee Silverman Voice Therapy (LSVT LOUD) for people with PD. She is adept at providing Inspiratory Muscle Strength Training (IMST) and Expiratory Muscle Strength Training (EMST).
